What Is A Hedgehog?
Hedgehogs are adorable, with prickly spines on their backs and soft, cuddly bellies. When scared, they curl into a tight ball, but when relaxed, their spines flatten, showing their friendly side. Easy to care for, they make great pets for beginners.
Despite their spiky exterior, hedgehogs are surprisingly friendly. When secure, their quills feel more like soft bristles than prickles. These curious explorers love roaming and playing, and critter balls keep them active and entertained.
Our baby hedgehogs begin weaning at 5 weeks and are handled daily, so by 6-8 weeks, they’re ready to join your family and snuggle!
Hedgehogs are not porcupines—though they look similar, they're actually insectivores and closely related to shrews. African pygmy hedgehogs weigh 1/2 to 2 lbs and fit in your hand, with spines in various colors and soft fur on their bellies and legs.
While they have poor eyesight, hedgehogs have excellent hearing, smell, and taste. They’re gentle and social, making them great companions. They’re also low-maintenance—ideal as first pets for kids, with adult supervision.

The Co-Owner Sam is the most helpful person he will tell you every detail about hedgehogs. We also boarded our hedgehog here for vacation.
